Hacktoberfest 2024: Nearly 175 community contributions from folks all over the world

Hacktoberfest 2024 has come and gone, and we’re thrilled with what our community accomplished!

Altogether, 38 contributors from across the world submitted 174 pull requests — an increase of 10% from last year’s festivities. Their work touched upon many different pathways for the Mattermost open source project, including:

💻 Writing code
🔍 QA testing
🗣️ Translating Mattermost into new languages
📃 Improving Mattermost documentation

We’d like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to Mattermost — or any other open source project — this Hacktoberfest.

Most notably, we’d like to highlight our top four contributors:

Major thanks to everyone who got involved this year! In addition to earning digital badges from Holopin, we hope that you enjoyed the opportunity to learn, contribute, and meet new people.

Though the 11th iteration of Hacktoberfest is all wrapped up, that doesn’t mean you have to wait until next year to contribute to Mattermost!

Our community is engaged all year long, writing code, localizing the Mattermost UI, improving documentation, running QA and security tests, and extending Mattermost with integrations.

If you’re interested in taking the next step in your open source journey, get involved with our community today.

In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you next year for Hacktoberfest 2025!
