This new Extended Support Release includes Playbooks granular permissions, translations, and streamlined notifications; Boards is promoted to Generally Available and includes change notifications, person avatars, and comment sort order.
Mattermost v6.3 (Extended Support Release) is generally available today and includes the following new features (see changelog for more details):
- Playbooks improvements, including granular permission schemes, translations, and streamlined notifications
- Boards promotion to GA including change notifications, person avatars, and comment sort order
(Enterprise) Playbooks: Granular permission schemes
Ensure your processes remain consistent by having more granular control of playbook access with the new Playbooks permission schemes. Control who can create playbooks, manage configurations and members, and run playbooks for Public and Private access. Permissions can be applied on a per-team basis to allow for gradual rollouts. Playbooks permission schemes are available with the Enterprise plan.
Provide a consistent and accessible experience for all users with Playbooks translations. Playbooks is now completely translatable with over a dozen languages in progress, thanks to the incredible contributions of Mattermost community members.
Playbooks: Streamlined notifications
Reduce channel noise and receive notifications that matter with the updated Playbooks notifications. All in-channel notifications are removed, with high-value notifications, such as task assignment or being made a run owner, being delivered via direct message from the Playbooks Bot.
Boards: General Availability
Boards is now officially in General Availability (GA)! Launched as an open source project in 2021, Boards has had 159 contributors, 7,200 GitHub stars, and has become one of the most popular open source project management tools, competing with proprietary apps like Trello, Notion, and Asana.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed!
Boards: Change notifications
Never miss a card update again. You can now follow cards and get a message notification with details of all the changes made on the card. Automatically follow cards you create and @mention someone to add them as a follower.
Boards: Person avatars
Find and assign users with ease. Person properties now support avatars, so you can quickly identify users and assign them tasks. Person avatars are also displayed within the Comments section as well, so now you can easily differentiate comments between other users.
Boards: Comment sort order
No more cumbersome scrolling to find the latest comments on cards. Newest comments are now sorted on top so you can easily find the most recent comment.
Thank you to our contributors
Thanks for all community contributions this month and, in particular, our v6.3 Most Valued Professional (MVP), Ujjwal Sharma, with multiple contributions to Playbooks. Thank you for your continued contributions, Ujjwal Sharma!
