Accessing the Free Software

You can download Mattermost Enterprise Edition, our commercial software here: https://mattermost.com/download/. Once you’ve installed Mattermost Enterprise Edition in your preferred environment, you can run it as-is in a free mode, or activate a subscription to unlock additional features and support.

License to Mattermost Enterprise Edition

Mattermost Enterprise Edition is governed by the terms of the Mattermost Enterprise Edition license (the “EE License”) found here: https://mattermost.com/software-services-license-agreement/.

You may access and use the subscription-only features of Mattermost Enterprise Edition, and its associated documentation files, only if you (or the entity for whom you work) have either (i) agreed to the terms of the EE License or (ii) separately signed an agreement with Mattermost to license Mattermost Enterprise Edition.

Additional Terms for Free Version

The free version of Mattermost Enterprise Edition (“Free Version”) is licensed under the EE License, but with the following changes. Despite any provision of the EE License:

  • The Free Version is licensed solely for evaluation, testing, and non-production purposes. You may not use the Free Version in any production environment or mission-critical system.
  • You are prohibited from making any changes to the User Interface (“UI”), including removing “free” labels, through reverse proxy or any other means.
  • You may not engage in reverse engineering, decompilation or license key tampering, or take any other action intended to bypass functional limits or license restrictions.
  • This license is limited to a maximum of one hundred (100) end users and does not include support of any kind.
  • You will not distribute and/or sell the Free Version without prior written agreement from Mattermost. To seek permission, send an email to [email protected].
    • Distibutors must provide a mechanism for end users to opt-in to Mattermost’s security alert emails, in order to enable notifications of critical security patches.
    • Distributors may not distribute any versions of the Software if it is at end-of-life in accordance to Mattermost documentation.
  • The Free version is provided “AS-IS” without indemnification, representations or warranties of any kind, expressed or implied. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MATTERMOST DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS AND ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO THE FREE VERSION. You assume all risk associated with any use of the free version. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MATTERMOST HAVE LIABILITY TO YOU WITH RESPECT TO THE FREE VERSION, OR YOUR USE OF THE FREE VERSION.
