Mattermost is aware of individuals attempting to perpetrate scams by falsely representing themselves as Mattermost recruiters. In some instances, the person may ask candidates to pay a fee to submit an application, pay for equipment, or share bank account information.
Mattermost will never ask for financial information of any kind or for any payment during the job application process. Mattermost will never ask for personal information during the interview process such as driver’s license or passport number, bank account number, or social security number (this is not needed until later during the background check process). Mattermost will never ask you to receive and ship packages or goods. Our recruitment process takes place by phone, via our LinkedIn account (https://www.linkedin.com/company/mattermost), via email, or in person. Any emails from Mattermost recruiters will come from a @mattermost.com email address. Mattermost does not use Wire, Google Hangouts, Telegram App, WhatsApp, or any other platform to conduct interviews as part of our recruiting process or for any recruitment-related activities. You should disregard any solicitation or request for information related to job applications with Mattermost sent via any other means and/or using email addresses with any other domain. In particular, disregard any emails that are sent from free, insecure accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail, or via instant messaging.
We urge everyone to exercise caution. If something feels off about your interactions, we encourage you to suspend or cease communications. If you are unsure of the legitimacy of a communication you have received, please reach out to [email protected]. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has published helpful articles to help individuals learn more about protecting themselves from recruiting scams and financial fraud. If you believe you were a victim of such a scam, you may contact your local law enforcement agencies.
