MDA’s Golden Shield
Golden Dome for America, established under Executive Order 14186, is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) next-generation missile defense shield designed to protect the homeland from ballistic, hypersonic, cruise, and emerging aerial threats.
This system of systems integrates the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), United States Space Command (USSPACECOM), and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) into a layered defense that demands speed, resilience, and interoperability.
The challenge is clear: America must connect sensors to shooters, unify allies and agencies, and fuse intelligence into decisions in real time. If the Armed Forces rely on siloed or unsecured systems, the Golden Dome risks delays in response, fractured coordination, and vulnerabilities in cyber-contested environments.
