Mattermost v1.2: Easier Onboarding, Enhanced Search, Hubot, Cloud Foundry, Code Themes
With Mattermost v1.2.1, an open source Slack-alternative, now offers easier onboarding for new users, easier to search, and easier to connect with external applications.
You can install Mattermost v1.2.1 today and view source code here (if you like what you see, please give us a star?).
Easy Onboarding
Mattermost now offers new users an optional tutorial to show new users how to use messages, channels, and search as well as how to access different system settings.
Feedback from early deployments is that end users have different levels of familiarity with messaging tools. In-app help was needed to accelerate adoption from new users, so it’s now included.
We’ve also made managing Mattermost deployments easier for IT admins past the install stage, with an improved Upgrade Guide, Trouble Shooting Guide, and Administrator’s Guide.
The community is also helping expand Mattermost compatibility, and last week a new Cloud Foundry BOSH release for Mattermost became available to deploy the system across Azure, AWS, vSphere, and GCE (thanks to Dr Nic!).
Enhanced Search
Full text search is upgraded with in-context help and advanced search modifiers to filter searches across channels and users.
Users can now also search through lists of hundreds of team members by username or real name in the Direct Messages interface, to quickly find whoever they need to reach.
Community Applications
Outgoing webhooks are now available to connect with a host of open source applications created for Mattermost, including Hubot for Mattermost and the Matterbridge IRC bridge.
Other recent projects include:
- RSS and Atom Feed Integration Service for Mattermost
- Jenkins Plugin for Mattermost
- Mattermost Publisher for Jenkins Job Builder
